The Subaru Legacy GT SPEC B was introduced for the Japan market only in 2003. With a radical change in design from it's predecessor, it introduced many changes throughout, with only the signature wraparound window design and raised roofline being carried over whilst reducing weight by around 100kg. As usual, the Japanese kept the best for themselves, with the UK, Europe, etc only getting normally aspirated Legacy Estate models or later on in the US, the less desirable 2.5 turbo (designed for the lower quality octane fuel). The GT SPEC-B is single turbo which helps improve low speed response compared to the older model. An extensively equipped, robust & spaceous family car offering legendary Subaru turbo performance. This particular example is of rare specification being equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox and impressive sports luxury specification including full leather and heated seats & more. Mechanical Specification includes: 2 litre 16 valve boxer 4-cylinder EJ20 engine with variable valve timing, intercooled single turbo making 280 bhp @ 6,400 rpm, 5 speed manual gearbox mated to permanent 4-wheel drive, powerful 4 wheel disc brakes, factory fitted Bilstein sports suspension, 18 inch alloy wheels. These combined help to offer a refined yet sports ride, combined with class leading load capacity.  0-60 in 5.6 seconds with ability to return 30 mpg when driven normally (Eco mode is also illuminated on the electro lumunescent dashboard display). Naturally there's ABS as standard too. Considering the capacity of swallowing an entire family of 5, their luggage and the dog with ability to cruise at high speed to say a Ski resort, it only weighs 1,430kg unlaiden.
Interior Specification is comprehensive: Full-leather bucket type sports seats with individually adjustable heating for front seats & head rests for 5 occupants, 8 way electrically adjustable driver's seat, ISO FIX mountings for rear child seat use, retractable central 3-point rear seat belt, privacy rear glass with piparless doors,   McIntosh high power hifi with integrated 6 CD changer & MP3 player complete with quality speakers & integrated sub woofer in the boot, Momo SRS leather steering wheel with adjustable column, electro-luminescent gauges for maximum legibility, heated wipers at front & rear,   additional storage under boot area partition, reclinable & split folding rear seats with electric release from the boot area (saves reaching forwards - the seats fold automatically!), rear luggage area cover, full set of fitted mats, Momo SRS leather trimmed steering wheel, SRS airbag for passenger,  pre-tensioners on front seatbelts - linked to the SRS system. leather trimmed shift knob, fitted Subaru deep pile floor mats, alloy pedals, climate controlled air conditioning, electric door mirrors with retract mode & integrated side repeaters, full electric windows & remote controlled central locking. A JDM system DVD Navigation system is included. This can be integrated for use with a DVD player, or alternatievly removed and replaced with an original storage box. We will include this with the car to give the new owner the choice.
Exterior features: Original dealer option ABS colour-coded body-kit consists of spats behind each front wheel combined with original side skirts and rear bumper spoiler. These are complimented by an STi front splitter and original option front bumper integrated driving lights. Note the sports front grille too. Also fitted is the original high level rear spoiler with integrated LED high-intensity brake light and original option side-visors. Legacy SPEC B 18" alloy wheels with Bridgestone Playz PZ-X sports tyres (Size: 215/45R18) compliment the low stance also contributed by the Bilstein sports suspension specific to this model. Note the wipers are all heated - useful for cold winter mornings! For summer there's UV cut privacy glass for all rear windows (Factory fitted, not after market sheet!) with pilarless glass on all doors (Note also the black widows wrap all around the car, only the A pilars are visible). Subaru has thoughtfully included an integrated LED foglight together with a high intensity reversing light.
Test Drive: As with each car we source, this example was picked for it's high quality. It's been looked after by Subaru since new and regularly serviced. Clutch has recently been renewed with OEM parts & has plenty of wear remaining. The timing belt was changed on 25th September 2008 just 25,451km ago (15,817 miles) and it's recently had a complete service. Oil has always been fully synthetic since new. From the outstanding original paint condition and lack of stone chips at the front, it's clear this example's never been driven hard and has always been well looked after. It drives without fault and the engine is purrrfectly quiet, no rattles or other signs of wear.  Most torque is made between 3,000 - 5,000 rpm and even at higher revs reaching the redline, the boxer engine remains smooth & powerful. It drives perfectly with no rattles or squeaks from the interior. We found absolutely no faults to report / needing repair. Even the fins on the intercooler show virtually no flattening, further indicating this car's not been driven hard (Subaru intercooler fins will flatten if the car's driven at speed in rain, for example!).
Exterior Condition: Auction grade is 4.0 (Copy of auction sheet is available on request of customer). Rear bumper has been scratched in the centre in a small area and there are some minor chips on the boot lid (Not easily visible unless specifically looking for these). Each has been repaired with an original paint code touch pen. On the o/s corner of the loading area of the rear bumper there's a mark left from a small nudge. Each of the rear wheels has scratches along the edge. These have been touched in carefully too. We feel each of these minor faults are too small to require repair but are mentioned herewith to give a complete condition report. If preferred they can be professionally repaired at small additional cost when the car is being prepared in the UK. Note the complete lack of corrosion, or oil leaks on the underside. Bolts for suspension are free of corrosion as is the rear subframe and much of the twin exit exhaust system. Engine bay is also in excellent condition, with absolutely no corrosion on bolts, etc.
Interior is in excellent condition with no faults to report at all. See ashtray which shows this has been a non-smoker's car since new.
